About Shevasana

Welcome to Shevasana

—♥—

Hi, I’m Sheena, a Toronto-based writer, yoga teacher and tarot reader. The name “Shevasana” is a play off everybody’s favourite yoga pose savasana/shavasana (the one where you lay down at the end!). Savasana translates to “corpse pose” in English, but Shevasana is very much alive. I see it as a powerful warrior-like name that embodies strength, intuition and femininity. It’s through this lens I approach my yoga and my yoga classes, always looking to inspire others to embrace their inner most power and find courage from within.

I found myself on a yoga mat one day out of desperation. I was looking for something to help me feel at ease, something to calm the anxiety and depression I was sick of feeling. To my surprise, yoga wasn’t easy, but it connected me to myself in ways I hadn’t experienced before. It taught and continues to teach me some serious lessons. I became a bit of a yoga addict, and after a few years of practice I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training at Yogaspace in Toronto. Now I teach flow style yoga classes, a medium-paced class where every movement is connected to our breath. It’s meditative for me to teach this way and my hope is that it is meditative for you as well. We don’t take ourselves too seriously in my classes, but we do work hard and have fun! Find out more about my classes and when I teach next here.

Why tarot and yoga?

I’ve been reading tarot cards since I was a young teenager, but only relatively recently did I begin to take my studies more seriously. I realized that many of us end up on a yoga mat for the same or similar reasons we consult tarot cards. We are looking for answers to our deepest questions while also striving to find clarity and inner peace. I’m currently developing a way to combine my love of tarot and yoga, but in the meantime you can read more about my tarot services here.
